Saving Our Legacy
Indiana Music History Project
Welcome to the Indiana Music History Project (IMHP) — an Indiana nonprofit dedicated to preserving, celebrating, and sharing the rich and diverse musical legacy of Indiana. From jazz legends on Indiana Avenue to garage rock pioneers, soul icons, bluegrass pickers, and beyond, our mission is to honor the artists, venues, and communities that have shaped the sound of our state. Through our many initiatives, IMHP brings Indiana’s musical stories to life for future generations.
Explore, learn, and discover why Indiana music is important worldwide.
Celebrating 10 Years!
Founded in 2015, the IMHP is growing! Thanks to the support of our dedicated staff and volunteers, we proudly offer a free public Indiana Music History Museum. Through our programs, we are committed to preserving and sharing the rich history of Indiana’s music through educational resources, tours, and public engagement. Our efforts are made possible through generous public donations, sponsorships, and grants.
